A third-person Spider-Man game written as plain JavaScript modules on top of three.js. The city is a procedurally built Manhattan at sunset, day or night: nine districts, Central Park with a pond, rivers, street traffic with signals and pedestrians, all drawn from generated textures with no image files.
Movement is the point. Swinging uses a real pendulum around a web anchor that is picked by raycasting the buildings, so you can hold one button and chain swings; you can also run up walls, zip forward in mid-air, and fling yourself to rooftop ledges with a point-launch. Combat has a four-hit combo, launchers and air combos, web-wrapping, dodges that slow time, a focus meter for finishers, and thugs that shoot, swing bats or block until you web them.
Every character is one smooth skinned mesh on a skeleton with five-fingered hands that change between open, fist and web-shooter poses, and the suits are painted at load time with embossed webbing. The game also has a Rhino boss fight, ring races, car chases you ride on the roof of, a skill tree, 15 unlockable suits, a map, cutscenes and generated music, and it runs from a single bundled file with no server.
